The Zone (prototype)
A downloadable game for Windows
This page is mostly an archive of a game I made back in 2016 (when i was, a very young, 15 years old boy).
I had never used Unity before, and used this project as my first real game.
However, to my todays standard, I deem this to be a prototype.
This software is available for anyone for free, free to use in any way they like. If you for some reason want this (really bad) code in your commercial product, a nod will suffice, a cup of coffee is appreciated ;)
Under the hood:
The game is build around the idea that players can import custom "maps" (text files with beat patterns) and paste a song next to it. These files would then be used to run the main level... a bit like the modern beat saber or OSU. Just.. made by a 15 year old who didn't know code. It works though! The download contains a folder with random sample maps and music. The title and author is credited ingame all the time. The contents of the rar file "songstoputindocumentsfolder.rar" should go to C:/users/<user>/documents/Prelol/
Maps can also be auto generated, but these usually turned out worse than the hand crafted maps.
The game was developed up to the point where there was a handful of people interested over at Brackeys forums.
